Said No Verse Ever…
If you want it you have to take it!
We try to teach our youngsters to be confident, outgoing and all with the hope that they will learn to be successful in their lives. We want them to learn to work hard for what they want. But that has morphed into a mentality that is actually counter to what we should be teaching them morally and ethically!
We teach them to take what they desire. This mentality has lead to a sense of entitlement that is eroding the love people have for one another. It lends itself to a sense of superiority over others; a belief in something being owed to the person when, in reality, life (God) owes NO ONE.
We have taught our youth, and many adults today, to have the sense that they DESERVE what they desire, even if they don’t earn it or work for it. It is somehow owed to them. Nothing could be further from the truth!
God NEVER expected us to take what we want. He, in fact, reminds us repeatedly that He, and He ALONE, knows our needs and will provide for them. We are to place our trust in HIM! He offers us rewards for our labors, not a free lunch!
We need to be teaching our youth the value of getting their hands dirty. We need to teach them that hard work and dedication pay off. We need to insist that they learn to love and trust God, and to respect the rights and desires of others. THAT is how we get what we need. Wants are fleeting. But God’s love, grace and mercy are eternal!
